Artist, Producer, Songwriter and Performer.

Biography

Kerry Badgley (of British Columbia, Canada) has a knack for writing music that resonates within, blending pop-rock energy with electronic textures to create songs that feel both intimate and, at the same time, larger than life. Influenced by artists such as Linkin Park, Muse, and B.C.’s own Juno Award-winning Lights, Kerry’s music invites listeners to explore deep emotions, while finding their own connections within the lyrics.

With five full-length albums and a collection of singles under his belt, Kerry’s musical journey is defined by a passion for creating art. His 2016 album "The Infinity Machine" remains a standout, featuring collaborations with iconic B.C. artists such as Rick Fedyk (Paul Rodgers), Frank Soda (The Imps), and Robyn Kelly (Robyn & Ryleigh). But where Kerry truly thrives is behind the scenes. An introvert by nature, Kerry connects with music on a deeply personal level and finds joy in building soundscapes under headphones, behind closed doors at his home studio, Darkside Media Studio. The studio is his sanctuary—a place to channel emotion and craft songs that resonate in unexpected ways. Whether it’s the vibrant energy of "Beauty Queen", the introspective tone of "Start Over Again", or the festive joy of his holiday hit "Sleigh Your Day", Kerry’s music is designed to leave a lasting impression.

While live performances have marked key moments in his career—including opening for Faber Drive in 2016—Kerry’s heart is in the creative process. His lyrics balance specificity and openness, encouraging listeners to connect in their own ways. From heartbreak anthems to feel-good bangers, Kerry Badgley’s music is an invitation to feel deeply, connect authentically, and rediscover the magic in the everyday.

Lyrics

When I get up, I throw both hands up and yell out, "today's gonna be the best damn day of my whole life, and nothing's gonna bring me down."When I'm with you, the skies are blue and I feel brand new. We'll laugh all day, because when you are here, there's nothing I fear, and together we will fade away. When you stand by me, you're my best friend, and you'll come take this bad day away. For the moment, we'll wash the sands of time through the hourglass, and you'll come take this bad day away for the distance. Scraping up your nickels and dimes, put your hard times into a jar and throw 'em in to the great abyss.(Now, now,) the times are changing, the moment's here for the taking. It feels so good, you make me wanna scream through the megaphone, "that I finally found the one for me."(Well, well,) I'm in the middle of where I've been and where I'm going. It's a great day because when you are here, there's nothing I fear, and together we will fade away (Hey, hey!)When you stand by me, you're my best friend, and you'll come take this bad day away. For the moment, we'll wash the sands of time through the hourglass, and you'll come take this bad day away for the distance. Scraping up your nickels and dimes, put your hard times into a jar and throw 'em in to the great abyss. (Yeah, yeah.)Come take this bad day away. (Yeah, yeah, yeah.) Come take this bad day away.

Lyrics

I must have been dreaming one Friday night, when you came right in to my life.
Got my heart racing, workin' overtime.
It's like dynamite. (Like dynamite, like dynamite.)
You keep me waiting for the next surprise. Life is changing right before my eyes. A lady like you to me is royalty. You're my blonde hair, blue-eyed beauty queen, beauty queen.
You're the prettiest woman that I've ever seen, ever seen, oh baby.
You make it seem like we're the only ones here tonight.
And you're my blonde hair, blue-eyed beauty queen, beauty queen.
Pull me in closer as you kiss my lips. Tracing your figure with my finger tips. I'm terrified because it might be wrong, but it feels so right. (It feels so right.)You keep me waiting for the next surprise. Love is going to be my demise. A lady like you to me is royalty, you're royalty. (Yeah)You're my blonde hair, blue-eyed beauty queen, beauty queen.
You're the prettiest woman that I've ever seen, ever seen, oh baby.
You make it seem like we're the only ones here tonight.
And you're my blonde hair, blue-eyed beauty queen, beauty queen.
Oh, I could stay lost in your eyes forever, forever. Will I see you again in my dreams? You're my blonde hair, blue-eyed beauty queen, beauty queen.
You're the prettiest woman that I've ever seen, ever seen, oh baby.
You make it seem like we're the only ones here tonight.
And you're my blonde hair, blue-eyed beauty queen, beauty queen.
Whoa, beauty queen.
Whoa, beauty queen.
I must have been dreaming one Friday night.

Lyrics

Sometimes you feel you've lost all your sense and purpose, like the rains have come and washed it all away. You wish you could be so much more, and I swear, stay focused and you'll soon be there, yeah.No matter how dark the skies will be, the sun is always gonna rise on up again. And if you feel broken, lean on me until that sun comes up again. Until that sun comes up again.Time goes by with still no sense of resolution. Convoluting thoughts like a blast of mind pollution. You wish you could break through, and seize the day. You just gotta learn to keep that storm at bay.No matter how dark those skies will be, the sun is always gonna rise on up again. And if you feel broken, lean on me until that sun comes up again. Until that sun comes up again. And when you think all hope is lost, and you feel your heart is broken, remember one thing; I was once in your shoes. (Yeah.)No matter how dark the skies will be, the sun is always gonna rise on up again. And if you feel broken, lean on me.Until that sun comes up again. (Until that sun comes up again...)

Lyrics

Here I stand, once again, up to my neck in a river of thoughts I don't expect you to understand.
Oh, I try to smile and chat for a while, but the burden pulls me down. So I pack my bags, and hit the road. (Yeah.)
They call me crazy, that it's all inside my head, and I guess it is. I don't know if you would understand. Oh, you make me feel like I'm unwanted, which is why it's time to go.
I didn't even lock the door.
Sometimes I wanna climb the highest mountain, and shout my anger to the world.
When nobody cares, nobody's aware mother nature treats me like one of her own.
I think today I'll climb the highest mountain and never come home.
And never come home.
Today is the perfect day to say goodbye
Reach up and touch the sky
Sometimes I wanna climb the highest mountain and shout my anger to the world.
When nobody cares, nobody's aware mother nature treats me like one of her own.
I think today I'll climb the highest mountain and never come home.
And never come home.
And never come home.
And never come home.
And never come home.

Lyrics

I spent my summers (I would spend my summers,) at the beach on Afigaly Road. (Down by the beach on Afigaly Road.)
Not a care in the world (not a care in the world) once that gold sunshine rose.
Oh, we'd be drunk on sunshine and high on life, sippin' drinks by the lake from morning 'til night, and time's going faster, always faster.
Not a care in the world at the beach on Afigaly Road.
When school was over, I'd come here with all of my friends. (Every single one of them.) Live it up 'til the daylight ends, (Ahh-ahh-ahh) and next day we'd do it again.
When I got older, I had my first real kiss (how could I ever forget it?) beside the cabin in August bliss. (Ahh-ahh-ahh) The afternoon breeze through my hair.
(Ah, take it away.)
Time goes by in the blink of an eye, I've got a couple kids of my own. But no matter where this road takes me, this place still feels like home.Every summer, or whenever I can, (a getaway for the weekend,) I still run through the white, hot sand. (Ahh-ahh-ahh.)
The afternoon breeze will always be there.
We're gonna live forever.
We're gonna live forever.
We're gonna live forever. (Yeah.)

Lyrics

Now and then I lie awake at night thinking about what you said. I try to put a smile on my face, but your words are stuck in my head.I try to run away, but I run around in circles, and end up right back here again.Dear photograph, why do you still make me laugh, even though those days are gone? Dear melody, why do you still make me cry, even though we've said goodbye?
A dream is just a memory. (Yeah.)
Sometimes, when I'm feeling alone, (feeling alone) I still think about you, how've you been?
I know I made the right choice, (made the right choice) though can't help but wonder what could have been.
If you'd had been there from the get go, I'd never have to let go and live without you in my life.Dear photograph, why do you still make me laugh, even though those days are gone? Dear melody, why do you still make me cry, even though we've said goodbye?
A dream is just a memory. (Yeah.)
A dream is just a memory. (Yeah, come on.)
Dear photograph, why do you still make me laugh, even though those days are gone? Dear melody, why do you still make me cry, even though we've said goodbye?
A dream is just a memory. (Yeah.)
A dream is just a memory. (Yeah.)

Lyrics

I close that book and start a new
(I close that book and start a new)
But there are things that remind me of you
(There are things that remind me of you)
The way you wear your hair
It seems I'm in too deep, I'm too extreme
I've got these voices in my head
That won't go away
They keep on telling me
In my heart is where you'll stay
(Heart is where you'll stay)
There you'll never be far away
(Never be far away)
In my heart is where you'll stay (Yeah)
You're far away (Away), far away (Away)
You're far away (Away, way, way, way, way, way, hey)
Sometimes I think I realise
(Sometimes I think I realise)
The truth locked up inside those eyes
(The truth locked up inside those eyes)
There's something in your stare
It seems I'm in too deep, I'm too extreme
I've got these voices in my head
That won't go away
They keep on telling me
In my heart is where you'll stay
(Heart is where you'll stay)

Lyrics

Have you ever wanted something so bad, that you'd give up everything you had to make it real tonight?
And have you ever needed something so much, something as precious as love's touch? Let's make it real tonight.
As the clock strikes ten, and the snow starts to fall, I am home alone waiting for your call. Come over baby, I need your lovin' tonight.I've never seen somebody with 'em eyes so bright. There must be something out there on this winter night. I've never needed passion like I do tonight, so come on baby, let's shine those electric lights.
I've never seen somebody with 'em eyes so bright. There must be something out there on this winter night. I've never needed passion like I do tonight, so come on baby, let's shine those electric lights. (Oh.)
When will I ever get to know you better? You must have been sent from above, tell me your story now
Sometimes I ponder if the looks I give make you wonder, if there could be more in store for us? Please baby, show me how
As the clock strikes twelve in the city of dreams, we are here alone, or so it seems. Take my hand baby, let's light up the city tonight (Oh.)I've never seen somebody with 'em eyes so bright.
(Hey!)
(Hey, Hey, Hey, Hey...)I've never seen somebody with 'em eyes so bright.

Lookin' at your photograph, don't even know who you are.
I don't know if I'll ever see you again, though it feels like we were never apart.
Baby, I love you. (Love you.)
Baby, I love you. (Always do.)
Baby, I miss you. (Miss you.)
Baby, I want you with me tonight.
Better days are behind me now. I never was quite the same.
If only I could get back there somehow, and live my life over again...
Baby, I love you. (Love you.)
Baby, I love you. (Always do.)
Baby, I miss you. (Miss you.)
Baby, I want you with me tonight.
Please be kind and rewind.
Please be kind and rewind my life.
Please be kind and rewind.
Please be kind and rewind my life.

Lyrics

They say that anger is emotion, but I never let it show, kept locked up in my heart for way too long.
They say that change is inevitable, but I'm scared of being alone while I rediscover who I am.
Stay with me as I fall deep into the eternal water, swimming in the ocean of my dreams.
Wait for me as I run deep into the darkness, and fall away from you into what I've become.
They said that midnight is upon us, I can feel their watchful eyes burning from the shadows of my bitter past.
And they claim that the universe is shrinking, but the realm inside my head is growing faster every day.
Stay with me as I fall deep into the eternal water, swimming in the ocean of my dreams.
Wait for me as I run deep into the darkness, and fall away from you into what I've become.
Stay with me as I fall deep into the eternal water, swimming in the ocean of my dreams.
Wait for me as I run deep into the darkness, and fall away from you into what I've become.
What I've become. (Yeah.)
Who I am, what I am, is what I've become.
They might take the best of me, but they will not take the rest of me...

Lyrics

Baby, I know we've been through a lot, but I promise I will always be there for you.
You and me, together, until the end.
Take my hand baby, let's go to the land of the unknown. Where the air is filled with hope, and the streets are made of gold.
Riding on a cloud of dreams to the edge of life, it seems.
Never wanting to wake up from this dream that we're living in.
You can be my summer night.
You can be my one delight.
You could be my, my untold story.
You mend my heart, you set me free.
It's almost like we're meant to be.
And you could be my, my untold story.
Take my hand, baby, let's fly
To our land, just you and I
Where the grass is always greener
Over on the other side
Hands together, lost in flight
When we're together, it feels right
And you know I'll always be there for you
Together through and through
You can be my summer night.
You can be my one delight.
You could be my, my untold story.
You mend my heart, you set me free.
It's almost like we're meant to be.
And you could be my, my untold story.
You can be my summer night.
You can be my one delight.
You could be my, my untold story.
You mend my heart, you set me free.
It's almost like we're meant to be.
And you could be my, my untold story.
And you could be my star-filled night, and we could kiss in the moonlight.
Baby you will be my, my untold story.

Lyrics

(Oh-oh, oh-oh.
Oh-oh, oh-oh.
)
Days flying past us at the speed of cosmic light. Suppressed by the feelings of my own internal fight.
Gone away across the notions of the blame you're sure to find, and all the times that I sit here waiting just to keep you satisfied.
Broken and burned down in a city of decay, to the world you are one person but to me, you are the world.Shine your light, shine it bright. We don't always have to fight. Life wasn't meant to be a race.
Shine your light, shine it bright. Everything's gonna be alright. Our love will shine deep into outer space. (In outer space.)
Outstretched and overpowered by the force of the back hole. Giving into pressure, the likes of which only God knows.
Gone away across the solar waves, the last remnants of light. For all the times that I'll sit here waiting, all the blame is only mine.
Hidden by the shadows as the sun begins to rise, to the world you are one person but to me, you are the world.Shine your light, shine it bright. We don't always have to fight. Life wasn't meant to be a race.
Shine your light, shine it bright. Everything's gonna be alright. Our love will shine deep into outer space. (In outer space, yeah.)
Tape: (Six, five, four, three, two, one, zero.)Shine your light, shine it bright. We don't always have to fight. Life wasn't meant to be a race.
Shine your light, shine it bright. Everything's gonna be alright. Our love will shine deep into outer space.
In outer space, yeah.
In outer space, yeah.
(Tape: Six, five, four, three, two, one, zero.
Liftoff, we have a liftoff.
32 minutes past the hour.
We got a roll program here.
Neil Armstrong reporting their roll and pitch program.
Which puts Apollo 11 on a proper heading.

Lyrics

My whole life has built up to this point, so let's get gone, let's break, let's ditch this joint.
This one single moment cannot get any better, it seems. And then I wake up, it was all a dream.
I'm slowly falling apart without you in my life.
It's slowly breaking my heart to see you walk away. (Yeah, yeah.)
Girl you are the sun, and I am the moon. When we are together, we spend the afternoon just chillin at a park, and when it gets dark we'll head back home and relax on the phone.
Just thе two of us spending every waking minutе together, no matter what the distance, no matter what the weather.
I've got no worries when I'm around you, I would do anything if only to better you.
There just aren't words to describe one another, except that we were never made for each other.
Girl, a friend like you is not easy to find. Every day I wake up, it's you that's on my mind.
But, now it's over, it was never meant to be. You and me is now a part of history. So now that it's done, I guess I'll move on, and all that's left of you is this song.
It's one big lie that's caught up inside. You're one big lie that I cannot deny.
It's breaking my heart, yeah I'm falling apart, and now I'm lying here, broken, back at the start.
I'm slowly falling apart without you in my life.
You're slowly breaking my heart, seeing you walk away. (Yeah, yeah.)
It's one big lie that's caught up inside. You're one big lie that I cannot deny.
It's breaking my heart, yeah I'm falling apart, and now I'm lying here, broken, back at the start.

Lyrics

Tonight, I cried. A part of me died inside my heart.
Should I go to bed, I don't think I could sleep, it's all inside my head.
Do you realise what you are doing to me?
Because I know you are the one.
The one who is everything, one who makes better the times when I try to find freedom, but fall to it all in my tonight.
Tonight, I tried to push all my problems aside.
As I look down the street to see the light of cars moving right of sight, the thought keeps spinning, round and round, inside my head.
'Cause I know you are the one.
The one who is everything, one who makes better the times when I try to find freedom, but fall to it all in my...
And I know you are the one.
The one who is everything, one who makes better the times when I try to find freedom, but fall to it all in my tonight.
'Cause I know you are the one.
The one who is everything, one who makes better the times when I try to find freedom, but fall to it all in my...
And I know that I was wrong, 'cause you're not who I thought you were, gone when I needed you most. When I call, there's no reply. (No hello, no goodbye).
Now I'm breaking, smashing, crashing, falling faster than I knew what to do, and I'm left standing here with nothing but my thoughts tonight.

Lyrics

Lookin' this way, that way
Every way the same thing
A spark which forms in the middle of the night
Ignites between us, holding us together
Through good times and bad times alike
But in the sky, dark clouds are formin'
Serving us a brand new warnin'
The situation grows cold as you walk away
And I'm standing here begging you please stay
I still can't believe it had to end this way
When you look me in the eyes I get butterflies
I can't comprehend the loss of a good friend
Will you change your mind and make me whole again?
When you make the rain fall
The spark will fade into the darkness
But until that day comes
The eternal flame will keep on burnin'
(Uh, yeah)
Overcome, broken down and delirious
I try to get a grip on all I've got left
Maybe we could make it work
All it needs is a chance
The fire burnin' brighter than ever
Whenever we're together
Then the wind kicks up, and it fans the flame
Why do I feel like I should take the blame
When I try to talk to you
The rain starts to fall
It's like I'm not even there
And you can't hear me call
I still can't believe it had to end this way
When you look me in the eyes I get butterflies
I can't comprehend the loss of a good friend
Will you change your mind and make me whole again?
When you make the rain fall
The spark will fade into the darkness
But until that day comes
The eternal flame will keep on burnin'
I still can't believe it had to end this way
When you look me in the eyes I get butterflies
I can't comprehend the loss of a good friend
Will you change your mind and make me whole again?
When you make the rain fall
The spark will fade into the darkness
And when that day comes
My heart will break apart the likeness
For what I've become
And I'll begin to accept the separation
But until that day comes
The eternal flame will keep on burnin' (Forever)

Lyrics

On this cold, dark winter evening, I reflect on the year gone by. Lookin' at photographs of old memories, when something catches my eye. It's an old picture of you and me standing happily, side-by-side.
Not a care in the world, just a smile on your face as we stood there in that place.
If only I had known the outcome of my decision, I would not have gone on and messed up the way things were. And if you could find it in your heart to forgive me, I would be a better man. But if you never want to talk to me again, I'd understand.I just wish there was a way to get things back to the way it was before. To the way it was before, whoa-oh-ohWe had only just become friends, not even six months before. But on this hot, summer day in September, I went and threw it all out the door. The rain is now long gone, and the flame is a distant memory. But I still sit here, waiting, hoping that the skies will clear up, once again.
And that we can still be friends, yeah.
If only I had known the outcome of my decision, I would not have gone on and messed up the way things were. And if you could find it in your heart to forgive me, I would be a better man. But if you never want to talk to me again, I'd understand.I just wish there was a way to get things back to the way it was before. (I'm sorry for everything.)As I place the photo back, I stare into the night. I don't know how it went so wrong, still I wish I could make things right. But I know that’d take a miracle, and I know that my luck is bad, so I sit here and write this song as an ode to the fun we once had.If only I had known the outcome of my decision, I would not have gone on and messed up the way things were. And if you could find it in your heart to forgive me, I would be a better man. But if you never, ever want to talk to me again, I'd understand.I just wish there was a way.
I still hope there is a way.
Please call me up some day, and let's get this back to the way it was before.

Lyrics

I'm up to my knees in disappointment, I don't know how much longer I can take this pain.
Every day the situation grows colder, I can see that it was never meant to be.
And this is the boiling point for me baby, trying so hard for something that cannot be done.
What could have been was never meant to be, and now it's time to start over again.
Disappointed in myself for not making it clear that I could never find the words to tell you how I feel.
Every day the both of us grow older, there will never be a you and me.
And this is the boiling point for me baby, trying so hard for something that cannot be done.
What could have been was never meant to be, and now it's time to start over again.
I'll always love you.
I'll always need you.
I'll always miss you.
Always.
This is the boiling point for me baby, trying so hard for something that cannot be done.
What could have been was never meant to be, and now it's time to start over again.
I'll always love you. (You, you.)
I'll always need you. (You, you.)
I'll always miss you.

Lyrics

In this time of ups and downs
There's a price that's to be paid
There's a wanting within us
A challenge before us
And decisions to be made
There's always stress and other issues
Taking all your time away
So if you agree, then just follow me
And together we will see
All I've come to think is, we could have done so much more
'Cause if nobody's breathing, there will be no reason
To keep on working for more
And all that I can see is, it's better than it was before
'Cause if nobody's trying, we'll just keep on dying
Knowing that we could have done more
In this age, we work so hard
For our paychecks every week
There's a new day upon us
A problem behind us
Yet the outcome does look bleak
Once in a while you have to stop
If not to just enjoy your life
Just like a solid black arrow
It's pointless and bare
Though it will bring you so much more inside
All I've come to think is, we could have done so much more
'Cause if nobody's breathing, there will be no reason
To keep on working for more
And all that I can see is, it's better than it was before
'Cause if nobody's trying, we'll just keep on dying
Knowing that we could have done more (Go!)
All I've come to think is, we could have done so much more
'Cause if nobody's breathing, there will be no reason
To keep on working for more
And all that I can see is, it's better than it was before
'Cause if nobody's trying, we'll just keep on dying
Knowing that we could have done more

Lyrics

Sometimes I get the feeling I'm not wanted anymore
Sometimes I feel like I should go
Sometimes, I think that life has forgotten about me
Those times, I try to look away
Sometimes you find yourself in situations out of reach
Sometimes, you don't know what to do
Inside, the stress builds up and it's eating you away
Most times you think you can get through
The stress is too much to take
Sometimes (Sometimes, sometimes)
Sometimes (Sometimes, sometimes)
Most times (Sometimes, sometimes)
Those times (Most times)
Sometimes I wanna let go
Sometimes, you think the world has it's back turned against you
Those times you don't know what to do
Outside, the sun goes down and a tear falls from your eye
Sometimes I know just how you feel
The stress is too much to take
Sometimes (Sometimes, sometimes)
Sometimes (Sometimes, sometimes)
Most times (Sometimes, sometimes)
Those times (Most times)
Sometimes I wanna just (Just, just)
Sometimes (Sometimes, sometimes)
Sometimes (Sometimes, sometimes)
Most times (Sometimes, sometimes)
Those times (Most times)

From the Vault: The Making of Electric Lights

(2021 Interview)

In the fall of 2021, Kerry Badgley revisited one of the defining chapters of his musical journey with a special 10th anniversary remaster of Electric Lights. To mark the occasion, he sat down with longtime collaborator and guest vocalist Daniel Huespe for an in-depth conversation about the album’s origins, recording process, and the creative energy that fuelled it.

Throughout the interview, Badgley reflects on the concepts that sparked Electric Lights and the unique chemistry between the creatives who helped bring it to life — including guitarist Kamil Krawczyk, engineer Drew Timlin, and special guest Frank Soda, a Canadian rock veteran whose soaring guitar solo on “In Outer Space” remains a highlight of the record. The discussion also touches on the personal challenges and triumphs surrounding the sessions, offering a rare glimpse into the atmosphere of those late-night studio days and the stories behind some of the album’s most memorable songs.

More than just a look back, the interview captures the spirit of an artist and friends chasing inspiration in its purest form — a reminder of how Electric Lights came to shine so brightly in Badgley’s discography.
